For several years Gospel Lighthouse Church Pastor Jackie Chavers, has ministered to inmates at the Jasper County Detention Center and the Ridgeland Correctional Institution. In 2003, with Christ Central Ministries, he opened Christ Central Ridgeland Mission Shelter for homeless men, often with no other place to go.
The large white brick building, on twenty two acres, houses about 250 men per year, 15 at a time, all in various stages of recovery from addiction and/or prison. Christ Central feeds, clothes and shelters the men, facilitates their growth in faith, and assists their transition to jobs and improved lives.
